The Coasters are back on the road this weekend as we travel to the LNER Community Stadium to face York City.

It’s the second of back-to-back away matches after making a long midweek trip to Forest Green Rovers on Tuesday night.

Chris Beech’s side fell to a 3-0 defeat last time out, despite holder their own for large sections of the game against a side who were in the third division of English football not too long ago.

As for York, they’ve had a great start to the campaign and are currently on a three-game winning streak following victories against Dagenham & Redbridge, Wealdstone and Braintree Town respectively.

Opposition dugout: Adam Hinshelwood

Opposite from Chris Beech this weekend is former Brighton & Hove Albion captain Adam Hinshelwood who is two months into his first full campaign in charge of York City.

The 40-year-old had a short, yet successful playing career having played 100 times for his boyhood club Brighton, a club which runs through his family.

He joined the seagulls whilst his uncle, Martin Hinshelwood was in charge and made his first team debut in 2002 in a 3-1 victory over Burnley in the Championship.

He was later selected for the England Under 21’s squad before an ACL Injury left his playing career in tatters. Moves to Aldershot and Wycombe Wanders followed but Hinshelwood was ultimately forced to retire due to injury.

His son, Jack Hinshelwood, now continues the Brighton family tradition as he has rose through the ranks at the American Express Stadium, making starts in the top flight as well as representing England at U18. U19 and U21 level.

Hinshelwood later moved into management, managing in the Sussex County League before building his way up the managerial ladder and into the National League with York.

He joined the Minstermen in late February and steered them clear of the drop last campaign, achieving 53 points and a 20th-placed finish.

One to watch: Lenell John-Lewis

Whilst also wearing the captain’s armband, John-Lewis had got his season off to an impressive start scoring three goals in his opening seven games for York.

Goals against Southend United, Sutton United and Dagenham & Redbridge has put his tally to 33 for the club since moving to York in 2022 – proving to be his most prolific club of his career.

With plenty of EFL experience, the physical striker has played for the likes of Newport County, Shrewsbury Town and Grimsby Town with well over 400 games under his belt.

At 35, the experienced forward is a constant threat for the Minstermen and proves difficult to deal with for any defence.
