It was defeat on the road for AFC Fylde who fell to a 3-0 defeat against high-flying Forest Green Rovers.

It was a game where the scoreline far from reflected the performance as the Coasters enjoyed large spells of pressure without making the efforts count.

Ben Winterbottom was called into action early on as Ben Tozer found himself unmarked at the back post from a corner and his header found centre half partner Ryan Inniss whose shot was charged down by the Brentford loanee.

But after the early moments of pressure, the Coasters began to take control of the game winning multiple corners as Haughton and Whelan began to boss the midfield and Ustabasi looking dangerous down the right-hand side.

With chances flowing, Beech’s side looked strong going forward and dangerous on the wings. But against the run of play, a soft free kick given against Harry Davis which gave Charlie McCann an opportunity which he took, picking out the top corner from 25 yards out.

Fylde rode the wave of green pressure towards the end of the half as Forest Green attempted to add to their lead, but the interval score remained just 1-0 to the hosts.

Winterbottom was called into action once again in the early parts of the half as McCann stole infront of his man in search of a second and his flicked effort was well pushed away by the Coasters goalkeeper.

McCann then missed a chance to claim his second of the game as he was presented with a tap-in but his effort was skied over from yards out.

Moments later, Fylde almost had their equaliser when Haughton went on a mazy run, avoiding three or four Rovers defenders before sliding an effort across the face which graced the outside of the post.

The game fell short for many more chances as the Coasters introduces the like of Jolley, Roberts and O’kane to try and change the game, but Beech’s side couldn’t find that golden opportunity.

With the Coasters pushing men forward, Forest Green finally added a second when Jamie Robson got in behind and struck the ball across Winterbottom, finding the inside of the post before the back of the net to double the host’s lead.

It was then three late on when Bunker scored with his first touch, bending an effort into the top corner after Forest Green countered.

The third concluded a tough night on the road for Beech’s side who were dominant in spells but couldn’t find the back of Rovers’ net as the host’s emphasised the scoreline late on.
