A young AFC Fylde side secured a 5-0 win away at Longridge Town on Tuesday night.

Chris Beech’s men were three up at half-time through goals from a trialist (x2) and Jack Morris.

Midway through the second-half, Taelor O’Kane added a fourth goal before one of the trialists completed his hat-trick. 

Longridge threatened early on, when Owen Watkinson brought the ball down on his chest to volley at goal from 20-yards which went just wide of Ewan Dodgson’s left-hand post.

Fylde then led on four minutes when a Coasters’ trialist pounced on goalkeeper Jordan Gidley’s error to round the Ridge stopper and tap into an empty net.

Gidley was called upon minutes later to beat away an effort from a trialist who surged down the right before tipping O’Kane’s close-range header onto the post and out for a corner.

The Coasters pushed to extend their advantage, with Jack Morris curling just over, and Gidley was equal to a powerful effort from distance which was heading towards the top right-corner.

Fylde were awarded a penalty on 29 minutes after Mitch Marshall fouled the scoring trialist in the box after driving into a dangerous position. The trialist then stepped up himself to blast the resulting penalty straight down the middle.

The Coasters notched their third on the half-hour, as Morris struck a drilled strike beyond Gidley into the bottom corner.

Following the restart, Fylde aimed to build on their excellent first-half, as Joe Riley’s enticing cross from the right glanced past the far post.

Fylde’s fourth came just beyond the hour, when O’Kane converted a quickly taken free-kick.

And a fifth came after 67 minutes when the scoring trialist powered a header past Gidley from an excellent cross by a fellow trialist to complete his hat-trick.

In the closing 20 minutes, Fylde had two chances. Firstly, a trialist thumped the crossbar from 30-yards out before Obi glanced a header from Morris’ corner just wide.

Fylde navigated the closing minutes well to confirm a five-star triumph.
