AFC Fylde boss Dave Challinor bemoaned the ‘horrific’ playing surface at Guiseley as the Coasters suffered back-to-back defeats for the first time this season.
Guiseley forward Rowan Liburd slotted home in the final five minutes of a scrappy National League encounter at Nethermoor Park and Challinor was equalling unimpressed with the display from his side.
Challinor said: “The pitch was horrific and really didn’t help us. They made the game into what they wanted and ultimately ended up with the result that they wanted.
“Did they deserve it? No. Did we deserve it? Probably not. It was a horrible game and hopefully we don’t have to go back there again for a long time.
“The minimum we had to take was a draw because it was very a scrappy game with very little quality. One goal was ultimately going to decide the game and I’m very disappointed that we didn’t get it.
“We looked like we were waiting for something to happen rather than making it happen.
“Similarly to Saturday, I had no issues with the effort or application of the players, I just wanted to see more urgency from our lads. We only got going when they scored.
“We need to analyse the game because, regardless of the pitch, there were things that went wrong that we need to address before we face another tough game against Dover this weekend.”
