Following the announcement of the National League North Team of the Season, we are thrilled to announce that there are inclusions for Alex Whitmore & Nick Haughton.
Both have been key figures for the Coasters in their own way, contributing significantly to the 2022/23 campaign, which ended with Adam Murray’s men being crowned National League North Champions.
Alex Whitmore
Captain. Leader. Legend.
Completing his fourth season in a Fylde shirt, Whits has become a fan-favourite at Mill Farm, standing up to any challenge thrown his way.
Through all the cuts, bruises and colossal defending, OUR captain has gone on to make over 100 appearances in a Coasters shirt and goes into his fifth season at the Club with a place in the National League North TOTY, a Community Player of the Year award and as a National League North title winner.
Congratulations, Whits!
Nick Haughton
If anyone else has any words to describe him, throw them in our direction!
There was only one way Nick could mark his fifth-year anniversary at Mill Farm, and that was with a National League North title, the League’s Player of the Year award and many other accolades.
Over the past two seasons, Haughton has scored 52 goals and assisted 18 goals, and with the midfielder now on 80 goals and approaching 200 appearances in a Coasters shirt, he has certainly left Fylde fans wanting more.
A shining light over the years at Mill Farm, this season has undoubtedly been his best, which has seen him pick up several Club awards in the shape of Top Goalscorer, Supporter’s Player of the Year and Player’s Player of the Year – not forgetting a Champions medal, the League’s Player of the Year award and a place in the NLN Team of the Year.
Congratulations, Nick!
