Media Officer Chris Park caught up with Centurion Richie Allen after the victory over Worcester City to get his thoughts on the result and becoming the first man to score 100 goals for AFC Fylde.
So overall, the victory over Worcester City last was quite comfortable in the end wasn’t it?
Yeah it was to be honest, we’ve come out done the job, scored a couple of early goals in the first half and that really kills a team off doesn’t it so it was a job well done from all the lads to be fair.
In terms of your first goal it was well taken. Can you talk us through it?
I managed to beat the two lads on the sideline, tried to feed in Rowey for the pass but ended up getting rebounded back to me so I took it further in towards the area and had a shot which went under the keeper to be fair and I thought he should have had it. But I’ll take it because they all count.
And then your second was that all important 100th in an AFC Fylde shirt. How proud are you to have finally reached that mark?
To be honest it’s about time I’ve got it. Martin Benson’s been telling me for the last couple of months now that you’re nearly there so every week I’ve been plugging away to try and get there so against Worcester it finally came. It definitely would have happened this season anyway but I’ve got it out of the way which is a nice feeling.
And you’re on six for the season now already so you must be happy with that?
Well to be fair I’m not really – I think I should be on about ten now! But my main aim before Christmas is 15 and I think I’m on track for that so as long as I reach my target I’ll be happy.
You’ve played a few games for Fleetwood in the Conference Premier above a couple of seasons ago but how have you found the step up from the Northern Premier League to the Conference North this season?
To be honest everyone didn’t think we were going to do as well as we are this season, but to be honest I don’t the league is as tough as everyone makes it out to be. Obviously, there’s a difference in the leagues as otherwise there wouldn’t be the Conference North and the Evo-Stik, but I don’t think there’s much in it to be honest.
And you also look like you’re enjoying your football again at the moment?
Yes I am and that’s it to be honest. Once I get going and once I’m enjoying it, no one can stop me really.
And your thoughts on the next few games? It’s the FA Cup up next. How do you see that one?
Yeah hopefully we’ll win that, but you know, Chally might make some changes with it being a cup game but we do still want to go as far as we can in it but we’ll just take it one game at a time and see how we go.
