Boreham Wood vs AFC Fylde
Saturday 9th December, 2017, k/o 3pm
Meadow Park
Vanarama National League
AFC Fylde return to league action this weekend for the first time in a fortnight following their exploits in the FA Cup.
The Coasters made it into the third round draw with an impressive 1-1 draw against League One leaders Wigan Athletic and must now face a replay for the right to earn a trip to Premier League side AFC Bournemouth.
Fylde have been in fantastic form of late with just one defeat in the previous nine games in all competitions. Last time out in the league, Dave Challinor’s side pulled off one of the results of the season with a 1-0 victory away at Dover Athletic.
Danny Rowe – match winner on the day – has been in majestic form with four goals in his last three outings. The frontman leads the goals charts in the National League with 11, the FA Cup with four and was named Player of the Month to round off a memorable November.
Fylde currently sit in 16th place in the league table, 10 points above the drop zone and just eight from the play-off places. However, Challinor’s troops still have three games in hand and will be looking to take full advantage.
Boreham Wood have been in equally impressive form and whilst their FA Cup defeat to Coventry City at the weekend may have halted a 12-game unbeaten run in all competitions, they remain undefeated in the league since September.
The Wood currently sit outside of the play-offs in eighth position, but have a game in hand on seventh placed Bromley.
Forward Bruno Andrade is lurking just one goal behind Coasters star Rowe in the goal charts as the top two hitmen go head-to-head!
Team news:
Full-back Luke Burke and forward Andy Mangan are back in contention after being ineligible for the visit of Wigan, whilst Jack Muldoon returns to the squad following a three-match suspension.
