After a convincing 4-2 win in the FA Trophy at the weekend, the Coasters are on the road again.
This time, there’s a return to league action, where a visit to Eastleigh awaits the Coasters.
With the fixture being one of our games in hand, a win will see the seven-point gap closed to just four points – although more games in hand remain on both Chesterfield and Dagenham & Redbridge.
The Opposition
Name: Eastleigh
Form: LWDLL
Nickname: The Spitfires
Ground: Silverlake Stadium
League Position: 16th
After a strong season in 2018/19, Eastleigh are down there with the Coasters struggling to gather any real momentum to push them up the National League.
Just one win from their last 10 league games has seen them slip further down the table and closer to the relegation zone – with the Spitfires just four points off the drop zone.
A win tomorrow, however, could see them push themselves up a tightly compact bottom half, to 14th place.
Ben Strevens is in charge at the Silverlake Stadium and was appointed as the permanent manager after a spell in charge as caretaker boss.
One To Watch
This week’s one to watch is striker, Tyrone Barnett.
Barnett is a player who, despite Eastleigh’s poor form, has still been scoring goals – and sits at the top of the club’s scoring charts this season.
Currently, Barnett sits on 10 goals in 34 appearances in all competitions – nine of those coming in National League action.
The Englishman – who signed for Eastleigh in August – was on the scoresheet in the Spitfires most recent win against Woking at the beginning of the month.
At 34, Barnett has spent most of his career in the Football League with the likes of Bristol City, Shrewsbury and Peterborough – where he transferred from Crawley for £1.2 million.
Head-to-Head
This will be the sixth time the two sides have met in the Vanarama National League.
The Coasters will be looking to the double over the Spitfires, after a win at Mill Farm back in September.
