Tomorrow’s game against Braintree will be the third in a week, and so far, the return of six points from two games has pushed the Coasters firmly into the playoff places.
Now sitting only six points behind Leyton Orient, the Coasters will be looking to put even more pressure on teams above them when they bottom placed Braintree.
The Opposition
Name: Braintree Town FC
Form: WLLWL
Nickname: The Iron
Ground: Cressing Road
League Position: 24th
It’s been a season to forget for Braintree Town. Bottom of the table and already relegated into the Vanarama National League South, the pressure will now be off the Iron.
The Iron were promoted via the National League South playoffs last year, despite finishing in sixth place – and so it was always going to be a tough campaign.
The season started off badly with the side not winning in their first 10 games, with The Iron playing catch up since then on.
In their last five games, they have won two, including a great 3-0 win against playoff chasing Sutton United.
In charge of Braintree is Danny Searle. After being assistant manager, Searle was promoted to first-team manager when he took over from Hakan Hayrettin in January, who himself took over from Brad Quinton in October.
One To Watch
Korey Henry
This week’s one to watch is striker Korey Henry, just 19 years old.
Henry only signed for Braintree in February after previously being at Yeovil Town, and West Ham.
Since signing for the Iron, he has made 10 appearances scoring four goals. However, these four goals have come in his last five appearances.
Henry’s goals have come just a little too late for Braintree, but Fylde will have to be aware of his presence and hope they won’t fall to a shock result.
Head-to-Head
The two teams have only met once before, and that was this season due to Braintree being promoted at the end of the 2017/18 season from the National League South.
