AFC Fylde continue their pre-season schedule on Tuesday evening as they make the short trip to the Sir Tom Finney Stadium to face Bamber Bridge. (7.30pm)
The Coasters won their opening two pre-season fixtures 1-0 with victories against League One sides Fleetwood Town and Rochdale. The win over local rivals Fleetwood Town in the first game of pre-season for was thanks to a solitary goal from last season’s Young Player of the Season Dion Charles, while the only goal of the game when The Coasters faced Rochdale at Kellamergh Park a few days later was scored by Richie Allen from the penalty spot.
More recently however, Fylde travelled to Wales to face Airbus UK last Saturday where they were defeated 3-0 despite playing well. However, it’s still been a positive start by Dave Challinor’s men and they’ll be looking to continue that tomorrow against a Bamber Bridge side who have recruited extremely well this summer as they too, like the Coasters, look to achieve promotion this season.
Fylde should have everybody available for this game although Josh Langley may sit this one out again. Club captain Bradley Barnes featured for the first time this pre-season against Airbus and should feature again against Brig. Youngsters Jake Gregory, Cory Bent and Joe Mullen all started against Airbus and they could get another chance to impress.
Bamber Bridge have had a poor start to pre-season, losing 1-0 at home to Altrincham before a 4-0 defeat at the hands of Preston North End. More recently, they were defeated 2-0 by local rivals Chorley with all three games being played at the Sir Tom Finney Stadium.
Brig have recruited some big names this summer with the likes of Jamie Milligan and Brett Ormerod joining as well as ex-Coasters players Dave Hankin, Joe Booth and Michael Barnes, who all played for Fylde last season. Other ex-Fylde players that now play for Bamber Bridge include Matt Lawlor, Jamie Milligan and Matty Kay, whilst midfielder Paul McKenna is a household name in the Preston area.
The address for Bamber Bridge’s Sir Tom Finney Stadium is:
Sir Tom Finney Stadium, Irongate, Brownedge Road, Bamber Bridge, Preston, PR5 6UU
The match will kick off at 19:30pm.
Admission is £5 Adults, £3 Concessions and free for U16’s with a paying adult.
Your support away from home was exceptional last season and we’d love to see that support continue on Tuesday evening by seeing as many Coasters fans at the Sir Tom Finney Stadium as possible!
